Background

In 2023, the ICPC Educational Department spearheaded an effort to assess and reform our academic output to have a solid structure and to secure tangible growth in our Youth Education. The first milestone was reforming our Hafith Program. In the last two academic years, we’ve piloted many changes to the program to provide a more focused and goal-oriented setting. The objective of this program is to provide an opportunity for our students to master the recitation and memorization of the Qur’an. Ultimately, we seek to cultivate within our students’ young hearts a bond with the Qur’an that will transform their lives. You will find the Qur’an journey that we set forth for our students detailed below.

Program Updates

The 2025-2026 academic year introduces three main updates:

– Two Campuses: We are excited to announce that our Hafith Program will be offered at ICPC Paterson & ICPC Clifton. Our faculty and staff will ensure that all measures are taken to provide consistent high-quality instruction in our two location!

– Departments: To create a system that facilitates the mastery of each of our levels, we have structured our faculty into three main departments: Nooraniya, Tajweed & Memorization. Each department will have faculty specializing in teaching their part of the curriculum.

– Program Levels:  After assessment & review of the growth trajectory of our students in their Qur’an journey, we have broken down the academic milestones into a 9-year program from alphabets to memorizing the entire Qur’an. The description and goals for each level are provided below.-

Program Pathway

The Nooraniya Course is our entry level into the Hafith program with a maximum runtime of one academic year. There are three scheduling options, each designed with two classes a week to facilitate the completion and mastery of the book’s 17 lessons. Students in this level become familiar with Arabic letters, vowel markings, and the fundamentals of connecting letters to form words. They are also introduced to basic Tajweed concepts. The most effective approach to Qur’anic memorization is by granting our students independent access to the Qur’an by helping them master recitation. The Nooraniya serves as a critical first step in laying the foundations for that, and for this reason, we do not provide memorization for the students of this level

Schedule Options:

– Saturday & Tuesday

– Sunday & Wednesday

– Saturday & Sunday

This is the entry level into reading directly from the Qur’an. It is designed for graduates of our Nooraniya program who are taking their first steps in identifying and reciting the words in the Mushaf. Their teacher will guide them to build reading proficiency by sounding out the words (Tahajji) of the 29th and 30th Juz. The goal is to build basic reading proficiency and reinforce foundational Tajweed skills. Students in this level will also be required to memorize half of the 30th Juz’ at a minimum.

The goal of this level is to build reading proficiency so that students are fluent in their recitation with no apparent Tajweed errors (Lahn Jali) Additionally, students will be required to complete the memorization of the 29th & 30th Juz. Students in Tarteel Level 2 will be introduced to Tajweed rules, but more focus will be given to Tajweed application In this level, students work to memorize the Quran while refining their reading to eliminate apparent errors. To graduate from this level, students will be tested in their memorization of the last 2 Juz’, and they will be assessed in their reading accuracy and fluency.

Schedule Options:

– Students may attend a minimum of 2 days per week and up to 4 days per week.

– At least one weekend day must be included in their schedule.

This level is designed for students who do not struggle with Quranic reading and have already memorized 2 Juz of the Qur’an. This level features assisted memorization. Teachers will actively facilitate memorizing the Surahs. The memorization goal for this level is to complete the 27th & 28th Juz. Students will also be given a rigorous explanation of the Tajweed rules and will be guided to remove subtle recitation errors (Lahn Khafi).

In the highest level of our program, students should have developed a basic mastery of Qur’anic recitation and developed a memorization methodology. At this stage in their Qur’an journey, they are prepped for independent memorization with the mentorship of their teacher. The teacher will monitor their individual progress and provide regular assessments at the completion of each Surah and Juz’. The teacher will customize a plan for each student for memorization, recent review and old review. Students complete this level when they have completed the memorization of the entire Qur’an!

Schedule:

– Students may attend a minimum of 2 days per week and up to 4 days per week.

– At least one weekend day must be included in their schedule.
