Ashura falls on the 10th of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. It marks the day Allah saved Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and his people from Pharaohโs oppression by the parting of the red sea. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged Muslims to fast on this day and the day before or the day after.
The Prophet ๏ทบ said:
“Fasting on the day of Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as an expiation for the sins committed in the previous year.” [ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ฉ ๐๐ข๐ด๐๐ช๐]ย
