Weekend School: Level III
ICPC’s weekend school incorporates education and fun in an Islamic environment. There is a strong emphasis on the Quran, Arabic, and Islamic studies. Students are split into classrooms based on a combination of their age and Arabic language level. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to read/write Arabic, have Quran memorized, and understand Islamic concepts related to themselves, their family, their community and the larger surrounding community.
Knowledge
Students are able to explain: the significance of zakat, siyam, and the rules pertaining to them – define what is Halal and Haram in Islam – tell the story Prophet (S)’s life before Hijrah, Emphasis on his role as a leader, his tolerance, and mercy. Tell the story of Prophet Shuaib and the story of his people
Memorization
Sura # 31 (Verses 12-19)لقمان / Sura #80 عبس – Selection of 5 hadiths on morals in Islam
Skills
Students are able to read and understand paragraphs competently and answer focused questions. Students are able to write sentences with 70% proficiency. Students are able to conduct a conversation with a friend. Students understand that: Role of man and woman in Islam Soft speech and politeness Peer pressure How to choose your friends Alcohol and pork as forbidden foods Gambling and lottery
Behavior
Students are able to explain why Slander, Backbiting, Destructive habits, Drugs, Bad/good TV/video are forbidden in Islam
